A Family Trust may contain a special needs trust that can serve your disabled family member (under age 65) and allow them to receive an inheritance without interrupting their social security or Medicaid benefits.

Or, the special needs trust for your family member or non-family member can be set up in one of the non-profit Pooled trusts in Michigan and anyone including the disabled person can provide the money for the trust.

Lastly, a disabled person can have a court ordered trust where there has been an inheritance or a court settlement.

A special needs trusts can pay for items that are in the best interest of the disabled person.
